Lego Galaxy Squad Bug Battle: How to Save the Universe from Alien Insects

LEGO recently announced a new line of LEGO products: Galaxy Squad. The sets are split into different factions: The Squad is comprised of the human space travelers and their robotic companions. The Squad is also divided into the Red, Green, Orange, and Blue teams, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. The Orange Team, for example, are very loyal to each other and love the fame and glory that comes with being Galaxy Squad heroes. They bring along an armored rover, the Bug Obliterator, to the battle to defeat the aliens. The aliens who are at war with the Squad include Space Swarmers, Warp Stingers and Alien Dragonflies. LEGO has already announced a mobile game and Web game to accompany the series.

very nice set and review! I am a fan of galaxy squad because first of all I like space ships and most importantly they can do some pretty awesome things. for example, the bug obviator that I have is awesome! lots of awesome details!

Discussion on the latest addition to the LEGO Space universe, Galaxy Squad, started somewhere in the summer of 2012. Since then, we've gathered more and more information as time passed, from set names and numbers to photos and official release, to the LEGO Club Magazine comic (Nov-Dec 2012) that tied this theme to the Monster Fighters' one (pic from LEGO Wikia) in some strange and yet not fully explainable way (as they seem to be placed in different universes). But, as we know well, this led to the first 6 sets only; the next 4, scheduled to be released next June, where unveiled at the many Toy Fairs earlier this year. Among them are 2 Alien Bug and 2 Galaxy Squad itself sets. It would seem the GS boys and girl, together with their robot companions finally got to the Bugs' home-world, or at least their stronghold in this sector of the galaxy, and are now ready to take the battle to the fabled and dreaded Hive.

Again, LEGO logo and few set info complete the upper left corner, while a reminder of the LEGO.com/galaxysquad site address is menacingly brought to you by Billy in the lower right corner. Moreover, for those interested, a cube code in the lower left corner allows you to see the Hive Crawler in action (note: at the time of writing, I have not check to see if the video is available yet).

Great idea, never thought of adding extra legs to the Space Swarmer. Do you have a pic of it or one of these with extra legs? The mech looks awesome but it is a shame that there are not an alien minifig in this set. In the series (polybags too) you get 13 squaddies(6 unique) 8 robot sidekicks(4 unique) and only 10 bugs(4 unique). I am crossing my fingers for a Galaxy Squad battle pack.

2013's space-specific theme Galaxy Squad features a team of intergalactic heroes and robot sidekicks trying to defeat an alien race of space bugs - humanoids with insect features - intent on "cocooning" the galaxy with special two-piece cocoons that can each enclose a standard minifigure. The heroes' vehicles feature a notable "split function" ability, which allows them to split into two different vehicles. In the storyline, Galaxy Squad was a direct continuation of Lego Monster Fighters and was directly succeeded by Lego Ultra Agents. In Monster Fighters, the team activated a beam that attracted a swarm of bugs leading to the events of Galaxy Squad, where after the big battle, Solomon blaze returned to Earth, thus creating the events of Ultra Agents. 2ff7e9595c
